Dear Parents, 

Welcome to another year of Faith Formation at St. Mary Magdalen! Thank you for letting us walk with your family and your children on their journey of faith. By making time to bring your children to class and prepare them for their Sacraments, I can tell you know how deeply important it is for them to have a relationship with God. We do our best to encourage, teach, and cultivate their faith, but you, as parents, are the most influential guides they have. We ask that you please support us by making faith central in your home. Here are some ways you can reinforce what they are learning in class: 

• Bring your family to the Sacraments regularly, especially to Sunday Mass. (Attending Sunday Mass is one of the commandments, and a basic requirement for faithful Catholics. It is also the greatest gift God gives us, and the closest we can be to Him in this world! Don’t skip this amazing gift.)

• Pray with your kids, as a family, and let them see you pray. 

• Bring good Catholic media such as books, movies, and shows into your home. (through St. Mary Magdalen parish, you can access a free account on FORMED.org, which is like Netflix but Catholic! You can access shows, movies, podcasts, and more.) 

• Ask your child what they are learning in class, and have conversations about the faith in your home. 

I am here to support you in teaching your children about the faith.  If you ever need anything or have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to me and I am happy to help.

¡Bienvenidos a un nuevo año de formación en la fe en Santa María Magdalena! Gracias por permitirnos acompañar a su familia y a sus hijos en su camino de fe. Al dedicar tiempo para traer a sus hijos a clase y prepararlos para los Sacramentos, demuestran que comprenden la gran importancia de que ellos tengan una relación con Dios. Nosotros nos esforzamos por alentar, enseñar y cultivar su fe, pero ustedes, como padres, son los guías más influyentes que ellos tienen. Les pedimos que nos apoyen haciendo de la fe el centro de su hogar. Aquí tienen algunas formas de reforzar lo que aprenden en clase:

• Lleven a su familia a recibir los Sacramentos con regularidad, especialmente asistiendo a Misa los Domingos. (Asistir a Misa los Domingos es uno de los mandamientos y un requisito fundamental para los católicos fieles. ¡Es también el regalo más grande que Dios nos da y la forma más cercana de estar con Él en este mundo! No dejen pasar este regalo maravilloso).

• Recen con sus hijos en familia  y dejen que ellos los vean rezar.

• Incorporen en su hogar buenos contenidos católicos, como libros, películas y programas. (A través de la parroquia, solo seleccione St. Mary Magdalen haciendo una cuenta gratuita en FORMED.org; ¡es como Netflix, pero católico! Allí encontrarán programas, películas, podcasts y más).

• Pregunten a sus hijos qué están aprendiendo en clase y conversen sobre la fe en casa.
