Faith Formation for Grades 1-5

Classes begin Monday, September 15, 7pm

Preparation for First Communion may begin as early as 1st Grade

The deadline for registration for Faith Formation classes for the 2025-2026 School Year was August 15, 2025.

You may add your students to the waiting list by emailing DBingaman@smmparish.org with

Student(s) name(s);
Student(s) date of birth;
Grade level in September;
Requested class level (1st Year First Communion Preparation; 2nd Year First Communion Preparation or Saints’ club.
If space becomes available, we will email you with instructions on how to register your student(s). You must be registered in the Parish to enroll your children in Faith Formation classes. If not currently registered, go to smmparish.org/newcomers to register in the Parish prior to trying to register for Faith Formation classes.
Space availability will depend on getting enough Catechist volunteers to teach classes.

PREPARATION FOR FIFRST COMMUNION MAY BEGIN AS EARLY AS FIRST GRADE
For Grades 1 - 5
Held Mondays from 7pm to 8pm beginning September 15, 2025 (as part of Monday night Religious Education)
First communion requires two consecutive years of preparation. The first year gives students a general foundation in the faith, while the second year prepares them more immediately for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion.
Registration is open from May 15-August 15 only.

For Grades 3 - 5
Held Mondays from 7pm to 8pm beginning September 15, 2025 (as part of Monday Night Religious Education)
After receiving their first Holy Communion, students are welcome to go deeper into the faith on Monday nights. Catechists will guide students in deepening their prayer life, help them to understand the Bible, and will share with them Church teachings on living a moral life, all while having fun.
